Hope is not a strategy

Hope springs eternal...while this may be true, it is not a stand-alone strategy for success.

There are millions of quotes about hope – and all bear consideration, especially in these times of uncertainty. Who isn’t hopeful that we will see an end to this pandemic? Who isn’t hopeful that we are beginning to see signs of recovery? And, we are nearing spring - despite what Punxsutawney Phil predicted - which is always a time of hopefulness! (And I admit I am in Arizona, so more spring-like than other areas!)

But in order for us to capitalize on that hope, it must come with a plan for action. Strategic action.

  • Definition of Hope: to cherish a desire with anticipation.

  • Definition of Strategy: a plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim.

While it can certainly feel a bit like waiting on “standby” and looking ahead to the better days, it is also important to plan for those better days to ensure that when they arrive, we are prepared. So let’s add a bit of strategy with the hope, and then we will see success!
